HELSTON ran out comfortable 4-1 winners at neighbouring Porthleven in the first round of matches in the Dave Gardner Memorial Trophy on Saturday.
Ben Stidwell gave them the lead before two goals from Keegan McPhilbin put them firmly in charge.
The hosts, who play one division below them, pulled one back from the penalty spot through Charlie Young, but the Blues sealed victory when Matt Buchan added a fourth.
In the other match in the first of the round robin games on Friday night, Falmouth Town lost 3-1 at Penzance.
Town host Porthleven tomorrow evening (Tuesday), while Helston entertain Penzance on Wednesday.
The finals day will be held at Falmouth's Bickland Park on Saturday, when Port take on Penzance and Falmouth play Helston.
