Porthleven 4, Bude 2

TWO late defensive hiccups failed to spoil what was an excellent performance by Port at a steamy Gala Parc on Saturday.

The home side were in complete control for much of the match, establishing a 4-0 lead before a freakish own goal and a penalty gave the north Cornwall visitors some consolation.

The Fishermen opened their account after half an hour when Jowan Shainberg's angled cross flew into the far corner of the net.

Five minutes later George Molcher produced a stunning individual goal when he beat a couple of defenders on the edge of the box and curled a delightful left foot shot into the corner, giving the hosts a comfortable interval lead.

Boss Kev Richards made a couple of changes in the hot conditions and one substitute, Dan Hindmarch, made a quick impact when he outpaced the defence to slot home a third.

Hindmarch was involved again for the fourth goal, finding Matt Best who set up the outstanding Molcher for his second of the match.

With five minutes remaining Port spurned the chance to keep a clean sheet when Shainberg ran back towards his goal to deal with a long clearance but only contrived to volley the ball beyond keeper Ethan Fearn.

Moments later Bude scored a penalty to set up an uncomfortable final few minutes, but Port were good value for their second win of the season.
