With only five weeks before the West of England Championship, 12-year-old Jack Sear crashed his car in spectacular fashion at Mendips Raceway in Bristol last month.

The Penryn College student wrote his car off after rolling it and his parents had a nail-biting wait before he emerged from the wreckage to a cheering crowd.

His family have had to work day and night to get a new car race ready. With Jack helping and his Dad working relentlessly, the car was finished just in time.

Looking stunning in a bright orange and black, the car had its debut on Sunday, October 2, back at Mendips Raceway.

In the first race Jack was 11th on the grid of 21 cars, but true to form he made some amazing manoeuvres, to come home in second place.

In the second heat, again starting 11th on the grid of 21 cars, Jack had a real battle and with oil spillage on the track, almost spinning out, but managed to come home in third.

Only 3 previous race meetings under his belt, and several drivers who had raced this track for several years not qualifying, Jack had qualified in 3rd place on the grid, to attempt The West of England Championship.

On a grid of only 16, he lined up against his competitors, some of whom, were competing in their last race before heading into adult formulas.

In a thrilling finale, Jack held on to his third place until the final lap, when he was forced wide by a back marker, allowing a more experienced driver to sneak through the gap.

Jack is now focused and eagerly looking forward to his next race, the Spanish National Championship, where he will be competing against adults for the title at Circuito de Cartagena in December.
