Falmouth Gig Club gathered at The Working Boat to celebrate their season’s successes on Friday evening.

Club chairman Nick Maxted congratulated the men's squad on retaining both the World and County championship titles. The ladies and junior squads were also congratulated on achieving consistent results throughout the season.

Awards were presented to Zac, Isaac, Tom and Austin for their commitment to training in the junior squad.

Greg Carroll was awarded Clubman of the Year for his tireless work over many years.

Tim Bowden received the Chairman’s Cup for his dedication to training and the club. Alan Anderson received Coach of the Year for his work with the B crew and the men’s squad development.

The men’s squad rower’s rower was awarded to new kid on the block Ross Trebilcock, with ladies' rower’s rower going to Zoe George. The most improved newcomer cup went to Lydia Walter. The Up the Creek Without a Paddle award went to Tom Worden, who nearly lost his first world champion’s medal on the Isles of Scilly this year.

After the presentation, a charity auction was held for Children in Need, raising over £700.

This money will be added to the money being raised by the 24-hour endurance row crew, a crew made up of six men and one woman. Anyone wishing to see the crew off on their voyage will be welcomed at the club based at the Watersports Centre (next to Trago Mills) at 8pm on Thursday, November 17.

If anyone is interested in joining the gig club, squad training takes place on Sunday mornings between 8am and noon. Community rowing, for those wanting to give rowing a try, takes place on Saturdays at noon.
