AIRCRAFT Engineering Technician Ciaran Nash of 824 Naval Air Squadron has been awarded the Cornwall FA Manager of the Month for his dedicated work with RNAS Culdrose Ladies football team.

Ciaran only started training as a coach this summer, but has always had a passion for football. He has played for, and always supported, Culdrose FC, so coaching them seemed liked the obvious next step.

Ciaran said: “I am shocked to have won, but it’s a great honour. It is mainly down to the girls showing up every week, working hard and training regularly.

"Lots of people on the squadron ask about the matches and we are gathering more support as the results are slowly getting better. The team are improving every day and I am really proud of them."

The ladies' team is made up of local Helstonians, once again demonstrating how effective sport can be in bringing together civilians with the naval base.

Although the team’s results have not been favourable this season, the team spirit is at an all- time high and Ciaran has inspired the team to “keep going”.

Ciaran’s award recognised his motivational skills and the enthusiasm he has given the team during their weekly practices and matches. His coaching skills will also benefit greatly from the clubs recent affiliation with the ‘Real Madrid Foundation’.
