PENRYN Athletic manager Paul Murray had to stew over another derby day defeat after watching his side lose 3-1 at Porthleven on Saturday.

The Kernick side's excellent recent form came to an abrupt end at Gala Parc, just a month after their 2-1 loss at his former club Wendron Utd.

"I take it personally when we lose. It hurt when I was a player and it hurts now. I may be a bit dramatic, but when you step across the white line it's like going to war. Sometimes we look as though we're stepping across it to paint a lovely picture."

Losing 3-0 at half time, a Scott Palmer goal put them back in the game but the turning point in the game arrived when the big centre forward missed a penalty after Callum Grahamslaw had been sent off for the hosts.

"We had so many chances in the second half, we played very well considering the conditions, but I need people who are going to die for the cause. I didn't think we did that," he added.

Murray will be in New York this weekend so will miss Penryn's trip to Plymouth Marjons. He will be back in time for his team's third derby in six weeks, at Illogan on Boxing Day.
