FALMOUTH Town boss Andrew Westgarth admits his team are in dire need of a victory when they travel to Helston Athletic for the Boxing Day derby (11am ko).

The Bickland boys have managed just one win in eight SWPL Premier games, with the latest defeat coming at home to Plymouth Parkway on Saturday, when they went down 5-1.

“A few of the lads were off the pace on Saturday but our biggest problem is not having a full squad to choose from each week,” said Westgarth.

“Particularly in the away games, we cannot seem to get a settled side and in the last few games, against some of the league’s top sides, we haven’t been able to pick up points.”

Town should be at full strength for the trip to Helston, with no injury or suspension concerns which have hampered their progress in the last couple of months.

Referee Steve Annis has been appointed to the game, which Westgarth is not entirely happy about after the controversial end to their game against Bodmin Town two months ago, when Mr Annis was in charge.

Town’s boss was left frustrated when the referee had asked an official from Bodmin to run the line in the second half, after one of his assistants had sustained an injury.

Penryn Athletic will be aiming to put two away day defeats behind them when they travel to Illogan in Division 1 West (11am).
