PORTHLEVEN will be aiming to arrest their poor away form when they visit Wendron for their Boxing Day derby (11am).

The Fishermen’s last victory on the road was at Liskeard, almost two months ago to the day.

After eye-catching performances at home to Penryn and Godolphin recently, their travel sickness appeared again on Saturday when they lost 3-2 to bottom club Vospers, who played more than 75 minutes of the match with ten men.

“It looked like we thought we could just turn up to win,” said boss Kev Richards.

“It was unbelievable, we should have been out of sight after ten minutes. We missed four clear cut chances and then paid the price. We have lost to all four of the bottom sides in the league now, which, although no disrespect to them, is embarrassing.”

The Fishermen will be missing central defenders Max Roberts (holiday) and Callum Grahamslaw (suspended) for the trip to Wendron, who suffered a 2-1 home defeat to defending champions Mousehole on Saturday.

The Boxing Day game at Underlane kicks off at 11am.

Kev added: “Wendron is always a tough place to go but it should be a good game of football for the spectator. I have given our lads this week off to recharge their batteries and enjoy Christmas.”

Port’s scheduled match against Sticker on New Year’s Eve has now been switched to Bank Holiday Monday, January 2 (3pm kick-off).

It has been moved to accommodate Exmouth, who requested a full week off before their FA Vase match on the following Saturday. Originally the Devon side were due to play Sticker on January 2, but they will now play them on New Year’s Eve.
