Porthleven 0, Sticker 4

THE season of goodwill came to an abrupt end at Gala Parc on Monday as the match descended into chaos just before half time.

Three players were sent off after a brawl in the goalmouth, which had been sparked by Jack Webber's seemingly innocuous challenge on Sticker keeper Kai Stone.

The visiting keeper reacted angrily and as Port players intervened to defend Webber, who was surrounded by Sticker players, a melee ensued as opposing players tumbled into the goal.

After consulting with both linesmen, who were officials from the respective clubs, referee Ollie Ingall sent off Rob Carey and Heydon Dark, while Frank McAvoy was dismissed for the visitors.

Dark had earlier been booked for the hosts, but appeared to play little part in the brawl, acting as peacemaker along with Sticker player-manager Andy Avery.

McAvoy can clearly be seen throwing punches, while Carey takes evasive action.

Porthleven have submitted a complaint to the Cornwall FA about the 17-year -old referee, who was taking charge of his first game in senior football.

Midway through the second half Dan Hindmarch was then sent off for Porthleven for a second bookable offence, reducing his side to eight players as the league leaders took control of the game.

He collided with keeper Stone, who then taunted Hindmarch by waving at him just before he was given his marching orders by referee Ingall.

Jack Bowyer scored a hat-trick for Sticker and Sam Marchant was also on target with all the goals coming in the second period.

In the first half Kyle Marks had Port's best chance, but shot straight at Stone following a fine cross from Carey.

George Molcher's weaving run and shot just over the bar was the Fishermen's best effort in a one-sided second half.
