Falmouth 9, White Eagles 0

Rock solid defending by a new back four formation of Megan Cookson, Nicola Hinton, Natalie Oliver and Rachel Medd kept the away team’s attacks at bay.

Tiverton’s closest opportunities came late in the game, however, reliable goal keeping from Amie Cadwell and Cookson’s magnificent goal line clearance meant Falmouth kept a clean sheet for the first time this season.

In midfield the home team dominated the play with excellent interlinking passing between Amy Figgins, Tatum Godwin and captain Clare Hudson.

Forward Emma Bragg was once again in fine form scoring her second consecutive hat-trick and Player of the Match award with her trademark spin in front of goal putting the ball under the Tiverton keeper’s pads.

Strong stick work from forward Amy Looker and Hudson saw them both scoring two goals each. Wingers Vic Pryor and Rachael Tatlow were also on the scoresheet. Tatlow deflected a Hudson penalty corner strike past the Tiverton keeper and Pryor took advantage of a Figgin’s cross.

Falmouth ll 7, St Austell 1

Falmouth ll hosted St Austell at 10am on Saturday morning at Penryn College. From the start Falmouth had the majority of the possession but struggled to get the ball across the line and past the St Austell ‘keeper.

This was until Amy Shaw ran the ball into the ‘D’ and scored from close range. There was more pressure from the home team who continued to struggle in the goal mouth.

Falmouth got caught high and St Austell capitalised on this, managing to score from a break through a 1 v 1 with Falmouth ‘keeper June Moore.

During half time Falmouth received a stern, but positive, talking to by captain Hannah Whear. This proved to be good motivation for Falmouth as a goal was scored seconds into the second half when Alice Bowman ran the ball down the right wing passing it to Suzanne Bull on the base line who managed to slot it past the keeper.

Keeping good width and space, another goal was scored minutes later through another run from Alice but this time meeting Amy Shaw’s stick, adding to her first half goal. Merely a minute later again, Alice Bowman ran the ball through the St Austell defence for a third time passing to Suzanne yet again who put the ball past the St Austell ‘keeper. With momentum very much on Falmouth’s side, they dominated the defence and managed to win several penalty corners.

With Iona Middleton injecting the ball to Amy who then switched it to the right side of the ‘D’ where Alice Bowman hit the ball on the reverse into the bottom corner.

Great team play from the defence of Hannah Whear, Becky Morris and Molly Phillips who made great switches of play and linking passes. Suzanne Bull made it a hat-trick as she lifted the ball over the keeper to make it 6-1.

Morgan Blackburn and Karen Ellis had many good runs down the left and right hand side and crosses came into the ‘D’. Approaching the end of the match, Alice Bowman managed to get her second goal with a deflection which went through the legs of the keeper to make the final score 7-1.
