March has been quite the month for Netball players at Penryn College with three teams becoming tournament champions on separate occasions.

The Year 7s came first out of 26 teams in the County Schools tournament held at Camborne Science and International Academy last month.

The girls gave an exceptional performance, proving that their weekly commitment to training has paid off. Truro School and Truro High School were among the stronger teams that the girls won matches against.

Less than two weeks later the under-15 team took part in the South West State Schools Tournament at Paignton Academy.

They won against six Devon schools in the first stage and went on to beat Churston Ferrers Grammar School 11-3 in the Semi-Final. Torquay Grammar School were their final opponents in the final round where Penryn won 10-8.

The team also made it to the quarter final of the National Schools Netball Cup.

The final tournament title was won by the Year 8 team in their County Schools tournament.

They won against every team in their first group before competing against other group winners.

Coach Angela Walker said: “It was an impressive performance and the team showed great focus throughout the long day. It’s a fantastic end to the season for all teams.”

It is the first time Penryn College has won both county school events in the same season.
