Cornwall warm up for their Unicorns Trophy campaign with a 50-over ‘white ball’ friendly against Somerset Seconds at Taunton Vale CC on Easter Saturday.

In recent years the county have visited Jersey pre-season but this game further strengthens the newly formed links between Cornwall and Somerset.

Cornwall have called up three promising youngsters with Mark Gribble, Lewis Goldsworthy and Daniel Lello set to make their debuts at this level.

Gribble has become a regular in the Werrington top order and averaged almost 30 in the Premier League last year. All rounder Goldsworthy, having helped Troon to promotion to County Division One, is a member of the Somerset Academy. He has just returned from England Under 16s tour of Sri Lanka, where he made runs and took wickets. Hayle all rounder Lello is the son of former county batsman Paul.

Daniel topped the County One batting averaging 54 and came fourth in the bowling with 33 wickets as Hayle clinched promotion.

Team Manager Godfrey Furse said: “ I’m looking forward to this warm-up game and the introduction of three young Cornish lads. We are hopeful of having another good season."

Cornwall start their Trophy campaign a week on Sunday against Oxfordshire at Banbury.
