PENRYN Rugby Club’s Easter 7s was played under sunny skies at the Memorial Ground on Sunday.

Six teams took part, including touring team Imperial Medicals, who also played St Ives during their 94th annual trip to Cornwall.

Each team played five pool matches before Camborne School of Mines and Dad’s Army emerged as the finalists, with the students running out 33-7 winners.

In the plate final, Ginger Ninjas beat PenFal Colts 33-5.

Kernow Kingers were the other team to take part and had the explosive talents of Alex Ducker at their disposal.

The referees’ society provided no fewer than seven referees for the day, which began at noon and finished early in the evening.

l On Sunday, April 30, over 400 children from around Cornwall, playing for the vast majority of Cornwall’s rugby clubs, will gather at the Memorial Ground for the annual Cornwall U7s and U8s Festival, sponsored again by Trelawny’s Army Supporters Club.

Matches start at 11am, and as well as being plenty of rugby, there will be food, drink, barbecue, bouncy castle, cake stall and a Trelawny’s Army Merchandise stand present, where all sorts of Black and Gold items will be available ahead of this year’s Bill Beaumont Cup competition.
