The Cornish Pirates can confirm that Kiwi centre Dan Koster has signed a one year contract.

A former Canterbury under 20s and more recently Canterbury ‘B’ player, he is an experienced midfield performer, with both try-scoring and defensive credentials.

Educated at Shirley Boys High School in Christchurch, where he has been the Weights Room Manager since 2012, Dan is also self employed as a Personal Trainer, and in 2016 was a finalist for Snap Fitness Australasia trainer of the year.

Now aged 25, he and his wife Danielle are looking forward to moving to Cornwall. They are due to arrive in mid-June and Dan is also eager for the challenge to compete in a different environment. He has commented:

“I'm very excited about the opportunity to be a part of the Pirates for the upcoming season and my wife and I are very much looking forward to making the move to Cornwall."

Speaking on behalf of the Cornish Pirates, coach Gavin Cattle said: “Having plied his trade mainly at Canterbury, through our links in New Zealand we have received some really good feedback about Dan.

“He is a player who can play both in the centre and on the wing, so provides not just experience but also versatility and we are therefore really glad to have him on board.”
