Falmouth Town’s Bickland Park home celebrates it’s 60th birthday this year and to mark the anniversary, Packet Sport is putting together a supplement charting the history of the ground.

As a taster, here is a photograph of Town’s treble winning team from the 1961/62 season.

They beat St Blazey 7-1 in the final of the Senior Cup at St Austell, they beat the same opposition to win the South Western League Cup at Truro, before once again overcoming St Blazey to take the league title at Bickland Park.

If you have a memory from Bickland - perhaps a match that sticks in the mind or a particular incident or individual achievement, get in touch.

Sports writer Matt Dixon is keen to hear from anyone who can contribute to the supplement, which could include old newspaper cuttings, photographs, programmes, interviews or simply your own memories.

Further to the supplement, it is hoped to replicate the first ever game at Bickland Park, which took place between Falmouth Town and Cornwall.

Plans are in place to stage a pre-season match between the current Falmouth Town team and a Legends XI, which is being put together by goalscoring legend Mark Rapsey.

The match is scheduled for Saturday, July 22. More details to follow next week.

The team above is as follows, back row (L-R): Frank Gardener (trainer), Richard Gray, Reg Mitchell, Roy Mallett, Peter Bennett, Cliff Rashleigh. Front row (L-R): Johnny Penny, Roger Berry, Geoff Peach, Eric Davis, Danny Sullivan and Johnny Russell.

Richard Gray went on to become Town’s most successful ever manager, guiding them to an incredible eight consecutive league titles - four in the South-Western League, then four in the Western League.

Roy Mallett earned a testimonial match against Plymouth Argyle in 1968 after playing for the club for ten years.
