Following the Packet Sport's recent publication an old photograph of King Charles School's football team, the same players have got together more than 25 years later to take part in another tournament.

The friends, who were pictured back in 1991, commented on the photograph via the Packet's facebook page and from there the idea of a reunion was hatched.

Seth White, who went to Penryn School and Portsmouth University after attending King Charles, takes up the story.

"I now live in St Albans just north of London and I saw the old King Charles team picture in the Falmouth Packet via facebook about three months ago.

"I met up with Robbie Canale and Tim Richardson, who I'd not seen for 20 years, for some drinks in London and decided it would be great to get the old school team back together."

Seth contacted all the players in the photograph and several others who were in the 11-a-side team and managed to convince them to go to Hertfordshire to play in a six a side tournament in Bovingdon.

They travelled from Falmouth, Devon, Basingstoke, Peterborough and South London.

He added: "We managed to buy a yellow kit with blue strips to match the old school kit and even tried to get Ray Rice (the old sports teacher and football coach) to come along and manage the team, but to no avail.

"Everyone arrived on the Friday night for a pre-tournament barbecue, then we were raring to go on the Saturday."

The team was in a tough group of six and managed to win their first game, before eventually finishing with two wins, a draw and two losses.

One of the games included a brilliant goal in which every team member touched the ball before slotting it home to win 5-4.

Seth said: "The afternoon and evening was filled with old stories from our school days, some of the lads had not seen each other for 25 years and overall the weekend was a cracking success.

"The plan is make this an annual event and we are currently looking at the Newquay 6's for next summer for our next get together."
