Torpoint Ath 1, Falmouth Town 4

JORDAN ANNEAR proved to be the match winner for the third match in a row with a devastating display of goal scoring at The Mill on Saturday.

He bagged all four of Town’s goals, as Andrew Westgarth’s men go from strength to strength after their opening day 7-0 defeat to Tavistock.

Since then, they have scored ten goals - eight of them by Annear – which have catapulted them into third spot in the SWPL Premier table.

Falmouth took the initiative after only six minutes when David Broglino played the ball forward to Annear, who ghosted past his marker and rounded the advancing Kane Gregory to tuck the ball into an empty net.

Danny Zalick’s flick header then went just wide at the other end before Town doubled their advantage after 22 minutes.

A long ball from Luke Brabyn found Annear who took it past two defenders and shot home from ten yards.

Ryan Barnes, back in the Town goal after missing the last two games, then saved well to deny the dangerous Zalick, but Torpoint pulled one back five minutes before the break when Curtis Damerell capitalised on some ponderous defending to set up Zalick, who duly converted.

A double substitution by Westgarth on the hour mark paid immediate dividends, when Ollie Walker made a fine run down the left and crossed for Annear to steer into the net for his hat-trick.

Torpoint’s afternoon deteriorated when James Alexander was sent off for a heavy challenge on Walker, before David Blizzard made his debut for Town having recovered from a lengthy injury.

Walker provided Annear with his fourth goal six minutes from time when he made another break down the left and Town’s number 10 managed to get the final touch into the net amidst a crowd of players.

Broglino then shot over from 12 yards after a good run from Brabyn, but it mattered not as Town were home and hosed in fine style.
