Helston Netball Club are gearing up for a new season with three teams preparing to compete this year.

The club has more than 30 members and they are looking forward to playing in both the Cornwall Netball League and the Social League.

The club, which plays at Helston Sports Centre, is coached by Leeza Williams, who started training them in the summer of 2015.

They went on to win the Back to Netball tournament ran by Cornwall Netball at the Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre, Truro in December 2015.

They have since attracted new members and now have three teams in total. Hornets and Hellys will play in the Cornwall Netball League and Cober will play in the Social League.

Member Libby Cross said: “I started playing netball a couple of years ago after not playing since school.

"I was attracted to Helston Netball Club as it’s local and after turning up one evening to train with them I decided to join as a member. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming and summer training has been really fun. We are looking forward to cheering each other on when we start playing our matches in September.”

Rachel Jones, who joined in April last year, added: “I felt a bit silly when I first joined as hadn’t played in over 20 years and was very unfit and was trying to lose weight after the birth of my children. Since joining the Helston I have completed a couple of charity runs and have lost lots of weight. I love my Tuesday nights now as its so much fun you don’t even realise you’re actually exercising and we have such a laugh.”

Helston Netball Club train and play on Tuesday nights, if anyone would like some more information contact them on their Facebook Page “Helston Netball Club”.
