Falmouth Town's top goalscorer last season has returned to the club after a short spell at St Austell.

Rob Wearne did not play for the Lilywhites in their League Cup clash with Town on Saturday and has returned to Bickland Park.

Boss Andrew Westgarth said: "It's great to have him back, he offers an extra dimension if we're going to change things up. He can only be of benefit to us."

Wearne 's 34 goals attracted much interest from other clubs last season and he made a summer move to Helston Athletic, before being snapped up by perennial trophy-hunters St Austell.

However, Wearne did not hold down a regular place at Poltair Park in the face of fierce competition from the likes of Liam Eddy and Mark Goldsworthy.

Town have also been boosted by the return of teenage midfielder Josh Richards, who has been playing league football in Sweden but has returned at the end of their season.

"We will have him for three months before he returns to Sweden, but with county youth games coming up we're delighted to have him back."

Four Falmouth players have been selected for Cornwall under-18s, who begin their season against Somerset on Saturday. Ollie Walker, Will Trew, Archie Frier and Jack Webber are all part of Glyn Hooper's team, which reached the FA Youth Cup final last season.
