A group of Hayle Runners took part in the Remembrance Run across the sand and shingle at Marazion in front of St Michael's Mount.

The race organised, by Mounts Bay Harriers, raises money for the poppy appeal and asks all competitors to wear something red.

In a record field of more than 450 runners and in very windy conditions, Tim Twigg was the first Hayle Runner home with Jess Garvey the first female from the club.

Jess also picked up a prize in her under 35 category.

Both Irwin Humphrey and Giles Newcombe picked up second places in their respective 55-59 and 60-64 age categories.

On the north coast, a group of the club’s junior and senior runners were taking part in the Westward League cross country race at Newquay, which also acted as the Cornwall County Championship.

Strong performances from juniors Jude Hardy, Holly Jenkins and Aaron Perry will see them up for consideration for the Cornwall County team.

Hayle Runners senior men’s team of Jordan Morant, Simon Knowles, Thomas Rosenfeld and Scott Abraham took second place in the Championship. Scott won his 45-50 age group in the county championship and Jordan, Simon and Thomas will be considered for selection for the county team.

Three members of the club also took part in the Wheal Jane Hardrock Duathlon, which comprised a four-mile run followed by a 12-mile bike ride, finishing with a one and half mile run on the often muddy off-road trails around Wheal Jane. Sean Pulley, Michelle Roskilly and Diane Warren all took part with Diane winning her age category.
