Two young players will tread the hallowed turf of Real Madrid's world famous Bernabeu pitch after being selected for a trial in the Spanish capital.

Rosie Shipp and Aiden Jolliffe, who were spotted during this summer’s Fundacion Real Madrid Clinic hosted at partner club Culdrose Youth FC, have been selected for an all-expenses paid trip to take part in a final trial in Madrid.

Club chairman Lt Cdr Andrew Plenty said: “We are immensely proud of Rosie and Aiden and their outstanding achievement.

"We are also extremely honoured as a club to be recognised as being part of the Fundacion Real Madrid, which allows us at RNAS Culdrose to provide such an amazing opportunity for young footballers in the local community.”

Rosie, aged 13, of Gunwalloe, who plays for Culdrose U14s Lynx and Aiden Jolliffe (15) from Helston, who plays for Culdrose Tigers U15s, will take part in the trial on the world famous Estadio Santiago Bernabeu pitch, as well as being treated to a stadium tour at the home of the “Galacticos”.

They will also spend a day training at the club’s highly impressive “Real Madrid City” training facility at Valdebabas. The trial will be part of the Fundacion’s final clinic with winners/ambassadors from Partner Club Clinics from across the world taking part.

Naturally both players and their parents are excited about the prospect of the trip to Spain as Aiden explains: “The whole week was amazing and then when I heard my name being called out, all the hard work I’d put in with the amazing coaches was so worth it.

"I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We are all still in shock from hearing we are going for the trial. I am really excited; it’s such an amazing opportunity."

The trial weekend is set to take place in May/June next year.
