Torquay 29, Falmouth 33
TWO tries from outstanding centre Tom Edmonds paved the way for another precious victory in Falmouth's Western Counties relegation fight on Saturday.
Edmonds scored the first of his team's five tries early on after breaking the line from 40 metres out, for Justyn Irons to convert.
Torquay replied with a try of their own almost instantly, before back row Tom Simmons restored the Eagles' advantage when he picked the ball from the side of a ruck to dart over from four metres out. Irons converted for a 14-7 lead, but the hosts hit back with two tries, one of which was converted to hold a slender 17-14 advantage at the interval.
Irons nudge Falmouth back in front with a try in rather bizarre circumstances. A Torquay player attempted a box kick, but as he drew his leg back, he accidentally kicked a team mate, causing him to lose the ball. Irons took full advantage, pouncing to race over from the halfway line.
Edmonds then scored his second of the match and replacement Seb Firth scored the all-important fifth try after some superb skill by scrum half Mike Austin.
