Mullion 2, St Ives 3

TWO goals in the final 15 minutes of this mist-affected match at Clifden Park condemned Mullion to their 14th defeat of the season in the Combination League on Saturday.

In one of only three senior matches to be played in the county, the hosts began brightly and carved out several chances.

Jack Price hit a post, while Charlie Glover and Archie Rutherford were both denied as St Ives defended stoutly.

Midway through the first half the home side did go in front when a foul in the area resulted in a penalty, despatched by Price.

The visitors levelled just before the break when teenager Louis Graham shot home following a Scott Goodchild corner.

Glover came close again early in the second period when his shot hit the crossbar, but Chris Blee made no mistake on the hour mark when he converted a free kick from the edge of the area.

St Ives battled back and almost levelled five minutes late when Owen Cleary-Brom's shot grazed a post, but they were not to be denied.

Curtis Richards scored from close range to level with 12 minutes to go, before Graham scored the winner a minute later to cap a man-of-the-match performance for his side.

The only other game in the Combination League on Saturday saw St Just win 2-1 at Hayle.

This weekend sees a second attempt to play the League Cup quarter-finals.

Falmouth Reserves host Penryn Athletic, while Helston Reserves travel to Pendeen. St Day host St Ives and West Cornwall entertain Perranporth.

In the Supplementary Cup, Carharrack host Perranwell, Culdrose visit Holmans and Porthleven are at home to Hayle.
