Young rugby players from Penryn under-8s thoroughly enjoyed their recent visit to the Mennaye Field.
Indeed, they not only participated in a tag-rugby exhibition during the interval of the Cornish Pirates versus Doncaster Knights match, but they also formed the Guard of Honour and waved St Piran flags – appropriately on St Piran’s Day Eve - when the two Championship teams emerged from the tunnel.
It did not end there though, as providing a real bonus for Penryn youngsters Broadie Creedon and Josh Honeychurch, they were the chosen mascots who accompanied Cornish Pirates player Brett Beukeboom and skipper Nicolas De Battista on to the field.
Commenting following their visit, Penryn under 8s coach Tiffany Honeychurch said: "Thanks to everyone at the Cornish Pirates for a fantastic afternoon. We all had a great time, made even better with the terrific win!"
