Camelford 0, Helston 4

HELSTON Athletic picked up their second win in four days as they comfortably saw off Camelford at Trefrew Park on Saturday.

The two sides went into half-time level but Helston ran riot after the break with goals from Dan Stidwell, Hugh Howlett, Phil Cattran and Kyle Marks.

Neither side could break through before half-time, with Cattran missing a one-on-one with Camelford’s Luke Gwillam while the hosts shot wide in their only chance of the half.

It was Stidwell who eventually broke the deadlock early in the second half, poking in from close range following good work by Kai Cornish.

Athletic doubled their lead through defender Hugh Howlett who took advantage of some hesitance at the back to volley in from six yards.

Phil Cattran finished off a good move from just inside the box to increase Helston’s lead further.

But the Blues saved the best goal for last, with George Roberts jinking past the Camelford defence before setting up Marks to finish on the half-volley from a few yards out.

Helston also recorded a much-needed win with a 3-0 home success over Callington Town last Tuesday night.

After a goalless first half, Stidwell's close range effort put them in front after 69 minutes, before Cattran's splendid half volley doubled the advantage six minutes later.

An own goal two minutes from time ensured the three points which takes the Blues beyond last season's points tally.

Helston travel to Bodmin tomorrow night before making the journey to Witheridge on Saturday.
