There is plenty to play for as the football and rugby seasons near their conclusion, with promotion and relegation at stake for several sides. Here is the lowdown on what the local area’s top teams are up to this weekend.

Football (Saturday, 3pm)

Falmouth Town v Plymouth Parkway (SWPL Premier)

Town will be in for a tough game on Saturday as they welcome runaway league leaders Plymouth Parkway to Bickland Park.

Parkway have lost just once in the league this season, but Falmouth themselves have only suffered defeat once in their last ten SWPL games.

Town could hand a debut to striker Mattie Buchan, who has recently signed from near-neighbours Helston.

Last time out: Helston Athletic 0-2 Falmouth Town (March 30)

Ivybridge Town v Helston Athletic (SWPL Premier)

Helston will travel to Ivybridge hoping to avoid a repeat of their previous trip to Devon, when they made the two-and-a-half hour journey to Witheridge only for the match to be called off upon arrival.

Steve Massey’s men lost at home to local rivals Falmouth on Good Friday, but recent wins over Callington and Camelford will offer encouragement for the Blues.

Last time out: Helston Athletic 0-2 Falmouth Town (March 30)

Rugby (Saturday, 3pm)

Sidmouth v Falmouth (Tribute Western Counties West)

The Cornwall v Devon theme continues into rugby, with Falmouth travelling to Sidmouth this weekend.

Poor form of late has seen the Eagles slip to 13th in the league, but with the lower end of the table so tightly packed, a win could see them move up as many as four places.

Last time out: Falmouth 12-12 St Austell (March 24)

Plymstock Albion Oaks v Penryn (Tribute Cornwall/Devon)

Penryn come into this game in lethal scoring form, having racked up a whopping 230 points in their last three matches as they look to maintain their push for promotion.

Penryn won the reverse fixture 31-0 in December, and a similar result this weekend could see them close the gap on leaders Wellington.

Last time out: Penryn 64-0 Plymouth Argaum (March 24)
