Witheridge 1, Falmouth 8

JORDAN Annear scored a hat-trick as Falmouth Town romped to a resounding victory over Witheridge at Edge Down Park on Monday.

Annear’s treble keeps him in the hunt for the division's golden boot, while Marcello Jones, Matt Buchan, Sam Pickup, Rob Wearne and Tim Nixon all netted to secure Town's biggest win of the season.

The visitors took the lead in the tenth minute when Annear went on a run and crossed towards Jones, who fired in from 12 yards.

Town struck again on 22 minutes with Wearne escaping two defenders before delivering a cross that Annear headed in for his 40th goal of the season.

Two became three on the half-hour mark after a sustained attack for Town was cleared to Buchan who, fresh from his first goal for the club on Saturday against Stoke Gabriel, proceeded to chip over goalkeeper Alex Collins.

Town extended their advantage even further when a corner led to a scramble in the area, allowing Pickup to prod over the line from three yards for his first goal for the club.

Wearne added a fifth shortly after half-time when Town broke away, with a cross reaching Wearne who converted from six yards.

The away side were six up on 64 minutes when a long ball over the top reached Nixon, who charged past the defence and rounded Collins to roll the ball into the net.

Annear got his second goal six minutes from time after getting past two defenders and drew the goalkeeper before slamming it into the back of the net.

He then completed his hat-trick and did his hopes of winning the golden boot the world of good three minutes later after powering a shot in off Collins' leg from a tight angle.

Almost immediately, Witheridge grabbed a consolation when a ball forward wasn't dealt with and James McDonald squeezed through to slot past stand-in goalkeeper Charlie Davis.
