St Erme 100 [2pts] lost to Helston 102-0 [20pts] by ten wickets

Helston hardly broke sweat as they ran out comfortable winners at St Erme in County Division 1 on Saturday.

Their 20-point victory, coupled with defeats for Rosudgeon and Beacon, means that they are now 33 points clear of the chasing pack at the top of the table.

St Erme won the toss and chose to bat, but lost opener Shane Tangye for ten runs early doors when he was caught by William Jenkin off Eben Koekemoer’s delivery. Koekemoer would eventually take a superb four wickets for just 18 runs.

It was Steve Eddy who took the second wicket as he bowled Tangye’s fellow opener Samuel Townsend (5) who was lbw.

Spencer Wilcock added six before he was caught by Steve Jenkin off Bradley Bury’s delivery.

Bury also took Tom Bunt (1) and Kyle Van Rooyen (0) as he claimed figures of 3-22.

However Joshua Moses salvaged a glimmer of hope for the hosts as he hit 30 before be was bowled by Koekemoer, with the score now reading 72-7.

Jordan Wilkinson came in and reached 13 not out before his side’s innings came to an end following the dismissals of Andy Wilkinson (2), Martin Townsend (4) and Steve Parsons (0).

Helston had a target of 101 to win which they met in just 14.2 overs.

Only openers Karl Leathley and Chris Martin were required as the pair scored 38 off 49 balls and 61 off 37 balls respectively as they cruised to yet another win.
