Falmouth 259-8 [20pts] beat Redruth 250 all out [9pts] by nine runs
Falmouth beat Redruth by nine runs in a closely-fought match in the Premier Division on Saturday.
Falmouth won the toss and chose to bat with Grant Stone and Jack Richards reaching 55 before the latter’s dismissal for 14 runs.
Richards’ replacement Kieran Rodda lasted ten runs before he followed suit, with Scott Kellow coming in to score 31 before being caught by Ellis Whiteford.
Whiteford then caught out Oliver Paull (18), while Stone still remained at the crease.
He eventually left when he was caught by Nathan Alexander, but scored 83 runs off 117 balls in the process to see his side to 235-5.
Richard Kellow fell soon after adding a total of 40 runs to the cause, with Liam Hoban (13no), Joe Harrington (2) and Sean Hooper (7) adding a combined 22 runs before the overs limit was reached.
Sam Wyatt performed well in Redruth’s reply, scoring a respectable 45 runs off 59 balls before he was caught by Stone.
By that time Jack Hale (18) and Christian Purchase (37) had already departed to put the visitors on 118-3.
Will Harris (48) and Toby Whiteford (55) added 103 runs as the visitors closed in on victory, but Peter Howells and Alexander were both dismissed for ducks.
Craig Johnson (2), Harry Bolland (8) and Martin Strick (7) swiftly followed suit as Redruth ended up falling just nine runs short.
