HAYLE Runners took a team of 40 runners to the Indian Queens Half Marathon on Sunday.
Despite a number of absences through injury or other commitments, the team came home with two second places in the team competitions and a significant number of individual prizes.
A welcome return from Pete Ellis saw him lead the men’s team home, while Emma Paull finished second overall in the women’s race and won her under-35 age category.
Pete led the men’s team home supported by a tightly packed group of club colleagues with Scott Abraham, Steve Fuller, Paul Warmington, Tom Rosenfeld and Rich Savage all finishing within just over a minute of one another.
Emma was supported by Faye Savage, Corrine Gerrard - who got a well deserved second place in her 45-49 age category - Becky Tossell, Caroline Chesterfield - whose great run earned her a second place in her 50-54 age category - and Maria Williams.
There were individual prizes for Robert Richards and Stewart Townsend, who won their respective 65-69 years and 75-79 years age categories, while David Wilding and David Batchelor claimed third-place spots in their respective 40-44 years and 60-64 years age groups.
