Penryn Athletic got off to a winning start under new manager Harry Pope, beating Redruth United 4-0 at Kernick on Saturday.

Jake Shaw gave Penryn the lead in the first half with a tap in, before setting up last season’s 34-goal top-scorer Ryan Reeve to make it 2-0 after the break.

Reeve then turned provider himself to tee up Bradley Leivers for Athletic’s third, before James Daniels rounded off the scoring late on.

Porthleven thrashed a heavily depleted Carharrack side 10-1 at Gala Parc.

The Fishermen, now managed by Rob Noventa, dominated with goals coming from James Kennedy (2), Matt Dawson (2), Jordan Adlard (2), Scott Eastwood, Jason Robertson, Jamie Greet and Kieran Willey.

Lizard Argyle had a Combination League debut to remember as they beat West Cornwall 5-1 on their own patch.
