Helston cyclist Steve Lampier proved why he is one of the UK’s most consistent top performers by triumphing in an event at Seaton in Devon last month.

Steve, who is the leader of Saint Piran cycling team, is enjoying one of his best seasons and lapped the field in a show of force against the best the region has to offer.

The team, which has several top Cornish riders including Jake Alderman and Will Harper from Falmouth, are benefitting from his experience and going head-to-head with some of the UK’s best professional teams.

Saint Piran is an elite Cornish team currently ranked fifth in the UK. It is Cornwall’s first elite cycle team and aims to give talented riders the opportunity to perform on the national stage.

Saint Piran are one of few teams in modern sport that has a plain jersey one without sponsors, while its unique motif and Cornish tartan is a real talking point.

This year the team have already won The Totnes Vire stage race, The Tour of Ulster and a silver in the national 25-mile time-trial championships.

The riders are in Cornwall on September 8, meeting cyclists and fans alike at The Rattler Pro Sportive, a cycle event where the general public can meet the team.

This is a new partnership between Healeys and Saint Piran on the back of support from Tregothnan Estate and The Cornwall Chamber of Commerce.
