More than 200 competitors from across the UK are expected to take part in the fourth Helston Triathlon on Sunday.
The athletes will be completing a 400-metre swim at Helston Sports Centre, before embarking on a 16.5-mile cycle ride around The Lizard and ending up with a 3.5-mile run in the area around the sports centre.
Kerrier district council is organising the event in partnership with the Tri-Logic Triathlon Club and a number of local businesses have donated prizes for the winners in the different age categories.
Kerrier councillor Loveday Jenkin said: "This is a great event that has gained in popularity each year. There is always a fantastic community atmosphere and real support for the competitors.
"This event forms part of the British Triathlon South West Series and is a great way for us to showcase our fabulous landscape and community spirit."
Drivers are being warned that there will be a large number of cyclists and runners on the roads around Helston on Sunday morning. The entrance to the sports centre at the top of Church Hill will be particularly busy and should be avoided if possible.
The district council is looking for people to help out on the day by acting as marshals to direct runners and cyclists along the route, and to count lengths at the swimming pool. Anyone able to help is asked to contact Kerrier sports development officer Ceri Drew on 01209 614348.
