FOLLOWING one of the tightest title races in recent seasons, Chacewater were crowned champions of the Whirlwind Sports Falmouth-Helston League division one when they drew 2-2 with Falmouth Athletic on Wednesday evening.
Just 24 hours earlier Athletic ensured the dstination of the title remained unresolved when they defeated Mawnan 3-1 at Dracaena Avenue. Damian Stevens had Mawnan's goal.
It still left Athletic with a mathmatical chance of victory if they could put half a dozen goals or so past rivals Chacewater to pip them on goal difference, but on the night honours were even with Chacewater winning the championship by a short head.
Luke Keelan and Mike Elliott scored for Chacewater with Ben Ambrose and Ronnie Tregos replying for Athletic.
