HELSTON Athletic Football Club is asking fans to get behind the team in its final push for promotion to the Southern League.

Helston are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Toolstation Western League Premier Division and, with five home games left to play, are four points clear of second-placed Clevedon Town.

As part of its final push, young fans are being encouraged to come to the next two games wearing Helston's blue and white colours in order to get in for free, with one parent or guardian also getting in free for wearing club colours.

Not only this, but there will also be half-time events taking place such as a crossbar challenge for under 15s and a passing target challenge for the under 11s.

The club says it wants to see Kellaway Park 'awash with blue and white' as the team enters the final straight in its last dash for promotion to the Southern League.

Speaking to The Packet, Helston's Director of Football, Steve Massey, said: "With just five home games to go now, we are literally within touching distance, and we just need that home support now to see us through.

"We've got a huge army of youngsters in our youth teams, and it's just to get everybody in and cheering the team on to promotion."

With two cup wins under their belt last season, Helston Athletic have gone from strength to strength, and their latest push clearly shows the team's ambitions for the future.

Steve continued: "It's a great time to be involved. When my brother Stuart and I first came in the 2017 season, the team had just finished its second season in senior football. I remember the first couple of seasons, the remit was 'It'd be nice to get into the top six.'

"And here we are now within just a few points of bringing Southern League football here. That would have been unheard of, a pipe dream, and it's potentially a reality now.

"I'm very proud, there's been great, great work by the management, the team, and the coaches involved to get us into this position. It's brilliant, absolutely superb."
