Porthleven's Chris Strike will face a race against time on Saturday as he bids to make it his side's crunch match against Newquay in the second qualifying round of the FA Vase.

The club captain missed last week's 0-0 draw away at Vospers Oak Villa as he was on holiday.

He gets back into the country on Saturday and is desperate to help his team into the next round that he is going to attempt to make it to Gala Parc for the 3pm kick-off.

The defender will arrive at Exeter Airport around midday and then face a two-hour-and-40-minute drive to Porthleven's Gala Parc for the match.

Porthleven were missing many first team regulars from the match against Vospers Oak Villa at the weekend, but many of them will return to face Newquay on Saturday.

Paddy Gardner, Dan Stidwell, Alan Thomas, Paul Ainscough, Steve Hawthorne and Tom Russell are all expcted to return to the starting line-up to face Jim Hilton's men.

Porthleven provided the shock of the last round when they knocked out Western League side Elmore 4-3 away. If they manage to beat CSWPL division one (west) rivals Newquay they will net £800 prize money and a home tie against either Penzance FC or Saltash.
