Duchy picked up a valuable three points from an untidy but none-the-less entertaining 5-4 victory over Caradon in a match which had goals, cards and controversy in abundance.

It was Wayne Spargo who hit the winner for Duchy with only four minutes remaining, although both sides led for periods of the match, with Caradon taking the lead into the break.

As with both of their previous two matches Duchy took an early lead, with Martin Crump sweeping in his second of the campaign on the ten minute mark, however Caradon struck immediately from a penalty corner as captain, Martin Batty, levelled for his side from close range. Duchy almost gifted the visitors the lead as the game progressed, losing possession in defence and leaving Richardson to make a solid stop from Paul Luiten to maintain parity, however the Black-and-Whites broke quickly down the right wing before man-of-the-match Mark Symons cut in to the top of the circle and fired a powerful effort into the far corner. Again Caradon reacted, with Leon Farrow scoring the simplest of goals - sweeping in a cross from Batty from the penalty spot for 2-2 - and with Ben Noakes being sin-binned towards the end of the half, the Liskeard-based side took advantage and shocked Duchy on the stroke of half time when Paul Luiten's penalty corner effort found the corner of the net. Duchy improved after the break, and whilst still not at their best showed brief glimpses of promise and pressed for the equaliser, particularly with Caradon also having a man shown the yellow card. Skipper, Max Chippett orchestrated a comeback for the home side, winning two penalty corners which saw Alex Roberts slam home an equaliser from the top of the circle, before Ben Noakes swept Duchy ahead with fifteen minutes to play after picking up on a rebound off Toby Riddle in the Caradon net before lashing the ball into the roof of the net. Once again Duchy failed to consolidate their lead, with Luiten finding an equaliser for Caradon on the hour mark with a strike that took a large deflection on its way into the net, although with both sides lining up for the restart the umpires held up play whilst confirming that the equaliser should be awarded.

The final ten minutes were error-ridden from both sides, and a single passage of quality play from Duchy was enough to find the winner, with a move down the right wing that was finished impressively by Spargo to give Duchy a 5-4 victory that keeps the side in touch with the leaders in South West One.
