Plym Valley 3 Falmouth II 3 Falmouth Seconds travelled to Lipson Community College to face Plym Valley with a number of changes to their team, knowing that earlier in the season a defeat was conceded against the Valley second XI. Various absences had forced the changes, including the captain Amy Walker and solid central midfield player Fran Pimm.

The first few minutes saw the Falmouth side struggle to settle to the game, giving the home side the majority of the play. 10 minutes in as Falmouth were beginning to settle, an unmarked forward popped up at the back post of the Falmouth goal and tapped in a scrappy cross.

Falmouth upped the work rate, gaining more possession and making some good attacking runs into the Valley half. Eventually player of the match Jess Lambert, working with Serena Davidson and Charlie Casey-Haden, managed a run up the left side of the pitch into the attacking D and played a cross to debutante Sophie Clarke to slot the ball behind the keeper to equalise.

The second half saw a restructuring of the Falmouth team giving a more attacking focus. A short corner was converted through a strike from Lucy Taylor, deflected over the keeper by a Plym Valley defender. Plym Valley pulled the score back to 2-2 before Falmouth scored their third, again through the midfield with Lambert, Davidson and Taylor passing well to allow Davidson the final strike. Falmouth held the lead until five minutes from time, when the experience of the home side began to show, and a loose cross again found a stray attacker who slid the ball past a turning Grace Rudlin.

The home side will be mourning the loss of two points they felt were in the bag, and Falmouth go into next week's match against Okehampton on a hard earned high. Falmouth seconds play at Penair at 12noon.

Falmouth II: Grace Rudlin (gk), Becky Luke, Amanda Wills, Heather Walker, Philippa Eddy, Jess Lambert, Serena Davidson, Lucy Taylor, Charley Casey-Haden, Emma. Venton, Sophie Clarke.

Falmouth first team's home match against Team bath Buccaneers and the 3rd team match against Truro 2nds were both postponed due to a frozen pitch.

On Saturday Falmouth 1 make the journey to Chippenham for a 12 noon start while Falmouth 3 travel to Bickleigh Barracks to play Mannamead 2 at 12.30pm.
