Penryn Saracens notched up another fine half century to condemn a hard-working Camelford side to a heavy defeat.

Penryn were eager to get back to playing and winning as they had done all season, following two weeks abscence.

A gritty and determined approach from the visitors kept out the first wave of Penryn attacks but it eventually cracked. James Martin showing pace and strength in abundance to go over for the first of 10 tries for the home side.

Camelford could easily have let the floodgates open, but were in no mood to roll and make it easy for Penryn as they continued to ride the storm. It was only a matter of time before Penryn added to their total, as first Ross Hancock crashed over from short range, followed in quick succession by Ben Jordan, replacement Alex Stuthridge sending over one of the two conversions.

Penryn’s dominance was beginning to pay dividends as Camelford’s endeavour was showing clear signs of fatigue and the five players loaned to them sportingly by Penryn. Daniel Booth was next to get on the scoresheet, after a brilliant weaving counter-attack, from deep in Penryn territory, resulted in the pick of the afternoon’s scores.

Andrew Seviour eased his way over for another score before the interval to give the score a commanding look after Stuthridge converted to make it 29-0. With Penryn personell changing over and familiar faces crashing into each other, the “friendly” fixture was turning into an enjoyable occassion for everyone involved especially for Camelford who notched a try their hard work deserved, though it came from James Martin who scored for Penryn in the previous half.

This seemed to wake Penryn up as they burst back into life with Terry Tullin crashing through several tacklers out wide to grab their first score of the half. Dan Booth then added his second after an offload put him in acres of space, with Stuthridge again converting for 41-5. Pressure on the Camelford backs saw a spilt ball hacked on, and pounced on eventually by skipper Rob Trevaskis, as Penryn began to run away with matters. Steve Homer added one himself after a powerful run, before Josh Symons showed typical pace and fleet of foot to ease his way over for a score, an end a comfortable afternoon for the Borough and an enjoyable one all round.
