ISCA II 4 Falmouth 1

Falmouth travelled to Exeter University to play league leaders, ISCA II, knowing that they were in for a hard match. The visitors played well in the first half, matching the home team and producing end to end hockey.

This was reflected in the 1-1 score at half-time, Falmouth's goal coming from a reverse stick strike from Clare Hudson.

In the second half ISCA stepped up a gear and Falmouth had to work very hard to contain the strong attack. Player of the match, Grace Rudlin, had a fine game in goal and even her good saves and great penalty save could not stop the home team winning by a 4-1 margin.

On Saturday Falmouth are at home to Bournemouth II, Penair at 12noon.

Falmouth: Grace Rudlin, Terri Barbery-Redd, Meg Cookson, Hanna Royle, Philippa Eddy, Danny Burnford, Clare Hudson, Fay Robinson, Rachael Tatlow, Vic Rushton, Serena Davidson

Truro 0 Falmouth II 3

Falmouth made the short trip to Truro School for this local derby. Truro won the match at Penair earlier in the season but Falmouth were in a determined frame of mind to reverse the result after a good performance last week. Falmouth made a dream start when Katrina Thomas scored after a fine individual effort, running down the left wing and beating the goalkeeper after only two minutes. Player of the Match, Katrina Thomas put the visitors two up before half time with another fine goal, this time lifting the ball over the stranded keeper. Falmouth continued to control the game in the second half with a good all round team performance. The Falmouth defence was solid throughout the match and the few attacks from Truro that reached the circle were well covered by keeper June Moore. Falmouth's third goal was scored by Gillian Lister, tapping the ball into goal from short range, from a right wing cross from Katrina Thomas. A good result for Falmouth over their local rivals.

On Saturday Falmouth II are away to league leaders, Torbay.

Falmouth: June Moore, Becky Luke, Amanda Wills, Kat Barbery-Red, Jess Lambert, Sam Dunstan, Amy Walker, Hannah Whear, Emma Venton, Charlie Haden-Casey, Gillian Lister, Katrina Thomas.

Falmouth III 0 Launceston 4

It was a short-handed 10 v 10 match on Saturday, much to the relief of both teams, who were both expecting to be outnumbered.

The possession during the match was fairly evenly balanced, both teams holding and passing the ball well. Launceston made the most of their possession, scoring some good goals through the Falmouth defence. Falmouth were dangerous on the break, but the forwards were unable to convert their chances. The end to end play of the match meant that everyone was kept busy, with player of the match performances coming from forward Kate Knott and captain Heather Walker. On Saturday Falmouth are away to Caradon ll at Lux ParK, Liskeard at 1.30pm.

Falmouth: Claire Rabey, Heather Walker (c), Lauren Islip, Jeanette Coleman, Rachael Moore, Sophie Clarke, Sarah Wilkinson, Kate McMillan, Kate Knott, Maria Zuber.
