Twice a week the A and B teams play home and away against the other eight teams in the area. Tuesday evening the As played away at Helston with the Bs at home to Helston.

Each team comprised of three rinks of four men, with a league table scoring system of a point to each winning rink and two points for the winning overall score.

In the Helston games, Porthleven teams only won one rink for each team.

Thursday evening was much better against Penlee. At home the A team won all rinks to gain five points and the Bs won on two rinks, to get four points with an overall score of 63-49.

However, Sue Roach has been selected for the Cornwall squad in the Johns Cup, this is the Ladies inter-Counties Championship, Sue has also been picked for the Double Rinks County team.

In the Ladies National Fours, Olive Polglase and her team did well.

on a windy Monday morning at St Ives they had a win over Porthleven’s Jenny Preston’s four scoring 24-8 to go into the afternoon game. With some rain falling Olive had another win against Olive Foss from Penlee. On a sunny Tuesday at Bickford Smith’s Green at Tuckingmill, Olive skippered a further win of 20-14 ahead of Mary Jenkin’s, from St Ives Club.

This puts Olive into the Cornwall County Fours Quarter Finals at Bodmin on the June 16.

In the men’s County Championships singles over a week ago they did not do well, all were defeated by the end of the second rounds.

The triples rinks this last weekend were different. Ian Perry and Roger Trenear each skippered their teams at Penzance and Roger Bicknell and Kenny Symonds lead teams at the Hayle Club.

Ian and Roger Bicknell both were defeated early but the other two played to win the afternoon games to go into the Sunday games at St Ives.

On a dull and misty damp morning Roger Trenear’s team started off with single scores then lost their way against John Peter's Holman's team.

At the mid point they were 5-14 down to then stage a recovery ending the game 12-17 down and out.

Kenny Symond’s team had Hayle’s Adrian Felix to play first, starting off well they held a lead to the end of the 18 ends to win 24 -15.

In the afternoon with the weather not much better than the morning the opposition was Camborne team skippered by Rob Jose a previous Porthleven member.

Kenny’s score of 20-6 was an impressive win that leads the Porthleven team to the County Quarter Finals.
