Truro City boss Lee Hodges admitted he was surprised by his team’s 1-0 win over Dover Athletic at the weekend as they went into the match with a number of injuries.

Marcus Martin scored the only goal of the game to beat the Kent side, who went into the game top of the table having recorded to 4-0 victories in their previous games.

“I don't think anyone was expecting that, especially with our injuries and Dover’s results,” said Lee Hodges. “We had to shuffle the pack a bit, but the outcome was the best performance of the three to date. I still feel Dover will be strong promotion candidates, but on Saturday we were very good value for our win.”

“We were very organised and everyone did their job exactly as I wanted them to. I don’t remember us performing to these levels too often last season, but that is essential now as anything less and we will lose. It's a totally different scene from last season, so the first week in the new league for us has been just brilliant. It was good to see Stewart Yetton and Danny Clay having their first starts and for Ed Palmer to get his first minutes on the pitch; I am sure there will be a lot more of that to come from him.”
