Bodmin Town have gone two points clear at the top of the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League premier division after they beat Liskeard Athletic 3-1 on Wednesday night.
A terrible mix-up in the Liskeard Athletic defence gave Bodmin the lead after 17 minutes as a back pass wide of Sam Borthwick and in off the post.
Ryan Richards equalised for Liskeard after 35 minutes, but Adam Carter replied almost immediately put Bodmin back in front.
Demitri Kanakh had a good chance to draw the visitors level again just before half-time, but shot straight at Bodmin keeper Kevin Miller.
Bodmin started the second half strongly and should have made it 3-1 when Carter’s shot was parried into the path of Danny O’Hagan. However, the former Falmouth Town striker blazed wide with the goal open. Borthwick then produced a good save to deny Sam Matthews on 62 minutes, before the game was finally settled with five minutes remaining as Ollie Brokenshire fired in a left-foot shot.
Bodmin: Miller, Swiggs, Morgan, Chambers, Simmonds, Brokenshire, Colwell, Matthews, Carter, O'Hagan, Slateford. Subs: Smallridge, Gilbert, Hodge.
Liskeard: Borthwick, Morrison-Hill, Jewell, Evans, Russell, Murphy, Carey, Maskell, Allen, Richards, Kanakh. Subs: King, Curtis, Edwards, Maddison, Batten.
On Tuesday night the CSWPL premier division results saw champions Buckland Athletic held to a 1-1 draw with Dartmouth, Tavistock win 6-2 away at Ivybridge and Saltash United defeat Penzance 2-1.
