A HAT-TRICK from centre-back Arran Pugh sent Truro City into the first round of the Carlsberg FA Vase in a dramatic cup tie at Treyew Road on Tuesday night.

Truro had been leading Gloucester City 2-0 as the match entered the final four minutes, but two late goals saw the Conference North side equalise.

The visitors hearts were broken though in injury-time when Pugh grabbed another goal to set Truro up with a tie at home to Ebbsfleet on December 10.

Gloucester started the better of the two teams, with Adam Mann looking dangerous down the left hand side of the pitch.

However, it was Truro who went closest to scoring in the opening half hour as Stewart Yetton diverted as Les Afful ball into the box onto the visitors' crossbar.

However, Gloucester also hit the woodwork in first half injury-time with a free-kick from just outside the box.

Truro took the lead early in the second half as Pugh headed home an well-delivered free-kick from Scott Walker. Pugh soon added a second for City from yet another Walker free-kick to put the home side 2-0 up and seemingly in control of the game.

Truro looked comfortable for the the next 20 minutes, until Gloucester staged a remarkable comeback.

Firstly substitute Scott Wilson headed home in the 85th and then Darren Mullings added a second in the 87th minute.

However, just as the tie appeared to be heading for extra-time Walker delivered another free-kick for Pugh to arrow a header into the top right hand corner.
