Falmouth hosted a county cup quarter final against local rivals Truro at Penair. Falmouth were the pre-match favourites based on their higher league level but they were without several regular players and Truro made them work extremely hard for their win.

Falmouth started the match strongly and had most of the possession in the first 15 minutes of the game, but were unable to convert any of their chances including a number of penalty corners that just went wide of the posts.

Truro worked hard and gradually came into the game and started creating chances of their own. Neither side managed to break the deadlock in the first half and it remained 0-0 at the break.

In the second half Truro took the lead with a well taken goal. This spurred Falmouth into greater action and they were soon awarded a penalty corner which Clare Hudson despatched strongly into the corner of the goal. Another penalty corner soon followed and Clare Hudson put Falmouth into the lead with another excellent strike. Truro fought back and scored the equaliser with a well worked penalty corner and then regained the lead with another penalty corner, using the same move to break through the home defence. Falmouth equalised a few minutes from the final whistle when Clare Hudson converted a penalty flick with a well placed flick which gave the keeper no chance after a Truro defender had stopped the ball with her foot on the line.

Extra-time of seven and a half minutes each way was now necessary to find a winner. The first half saw no goals although Truro probably had the best chance but 'keeper June Moore was in a good position to save the shot which she probably did not have time to see. In the second period of extra time prolific goal scorer Clare Hudson again found the opportunity to put her side into the lead, with a goal from a narrow angle across the goal, and this time Falmouth managed to hold the advantage until the final whistle.

County Cup holders, Falmouth were a little lucky in this match as Truro played well and worked hard as a team. In the semi-final Falmouth are at home to Penzance.
