JIMMY Johns (Lizard FC A) won this year’s single knockout competition in the West Cornwall Winter Pool League after a 3-2 win over team mate Ben Charity.

The game was played on Sunday after it was carried over from the finals night. In the league Wendron CC had a 7-2 victory over Godolphin Club F and have an 11-point lead at the top of division one and Helston RBL A also won 7-2 against the Bell Inn A team and have a six point in the runners-up spot.

Helston FC A and Lizard FC A both had 5-4 victories to maintain third and fourth spots. Wins from Michael Southgate, Craig Pound, Tim Pound, Rob Brown and Dan Peters helped White Hart B to a 7-2 win over Rosudgeon SC and neighbours Three Tuns B won 6-3 against the Harbour.

Constantine SC A close in on the division two title. They now have an eight point lead after a 5-4 win over Seven Stars A last week, while Paris A, currently in third spot, won 6-3 against Helston RBL D, currently in second spot thanks to singles wins from Ian Richards, Kelvin Pengilly, Nick Kemp and Alan Pengilly. Helston RBL B showed better form with a 6-3 win over the Bell Inn B team as did Shooters A in their 7-2 win over Helston RFC A. Gweek Inn A were also 7-2 winners defeating bottom side Godolphin Club A.

The top spots look pretty much sewn up in division three. The Killigrew Inn had a 6-3 win over Breage SC and now have a 17 point lead ahead of Helston CC C who won 8-1 against Mounts Bay A and they have a 15 point lead ahead of third spot. Godolphin Club D do have games in hand and won 7-2 against the Crown Inn and Mullion FC edged out the Lizard FC B team 5-4.
