Penryn Athletic are through to the final of the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup after they beat Newquay 5-3 on Tuesday night.

The semi-final, played at AFC St Austell, saw Newquay take a first half lead through Glen Squires.

But an impressive Penryn midfield turned the game round at the start of the second half, with goals from Josh Burton and Dan Richardson.

Luke Weldhen equalised in the 65th minute to take the match into extra-time.

Liam Streat then put Penryn into a 94th minute lead, before ex-Falmouth Town player Johnny Ludlam levelled the scores again.

However, goals from David Broglino and Dan Richardson saw Penryn through 5-3 overall.

They will now face St Dennis in the final after they beat Dobwalls 5-2 on Wednesday.

The St Dennis goals came from Ryan Hayhurst, Scott Hill, Carl Rickard (2) and Kyle Friendship.

The final will be played on May 9. The venue has yet to be confirmed.
