Penryn Athletic claimed their first trophy at senior football as they beat St Dennis 3-1 in the Durning Lawrence Charity Cup.

Penryn took the lead after 11 minutes when Kirk Davies shot was turned in by Greg Hobbs.

They then dominated the first half and could have added to their lead, before St Dennis’ Carl Rickard levelled the scored with a well-taken 31st minute goal.

However, Penryn continued to control the game and re-took the lead 20 minutes into the second half.

Davies was the scorer as he drilled a shot into the bottom corner. St Dennis were left feeling aggrieved as the Penryn skipper appeared to handle the ball in the lead up to the goal.

Substitute Rob Wearne then made sure of victory as he drove a shot past Brett Allen in the 88th minute.
