Leeds fans snap up more than 1,000 tickets for Bodmin Town match
Leeds United's pre-season tour of the South West is generating a lot of interest from football fans in Cornwall, with more than a 1,000 tickets being sold already for the game against CSWPL champions Bodmin Town on July 25.
Neil Warnock, who was appointed Leeds United manager in February, regularly brings his sides to Cornwall for pre-season matches. QPR, Sheffield United and Crystal Palace have all visited the Duchy in the past.
However, Warnock told the Packet last month that the clubs playing Leeds United this summer should expect a much larger number of supporters than usual to take an interest in this pre-season tour becuase of the history and support base that surrounds the West Yorkshire club.
He also added that he expects a large number of Leeds fans to make the trip down from Yorkshire for the games, which also include matches against Tavistock and Torquay.
He appears to have been proved right. Bodmin Town's match with QPR last summer attracted around 1,300 spectators through the gates at Priory Park, but Leeds United are warning fans to buy their tickets before the game itself this time round as tickets continue to be snapped up via their online site.
Bodmin Town's ground has a capacity of 5,000, with 400 seated.
A statement on the club's website read: "Fans wishing to attend our games in the South West in July are reminded to buy tickets in advance to avoid any disappointment.
"Tickets for the games against Tavistock, Bodmin and Torquay United are on general sale via the Online Ticket Office and have been selling well.
“Around 1,000 tickets have been sold for the games at both Tavistock and Bodmin and, due to the limited capacities at both grounds, fans are advised to buy their tickets in advance of the game.
Advance tickets may be the only way to guarantee admission to these games and will ease any congestion on the night of the matches.”
Leeds United are due to play Bodmin on Wednesday, July 25. The match against Tavistock is on Monday, July 23.
Both games kick off at 7pm.
