Truro High School, A level student, Lottie Richardson is doing a different kind of work experience this week.

She is the official Port Pendennis Marina photographer for the J Class Yacht Regatta, taking place in Falmouth from 26th-30th June.

The J's are the greatest class of yachts ever created, and were originally built in the 1930s to compete in the America’s Cup. They are still the biggest and finest of the ocean racers. Few originals remain, however some of these stunning 140 foot yachts now have replica’s.

There are 4 J's racing this week in Falmouth; a 1933 original, Velsheda, and three replicas, Lionheart, Rainbow and Ranger.

Lottie’s images and updates are being posted on her Twitter.com/JClass_Blog and the PortPendennis.com website. Lottie's best images will be uploaded and sold on her own LottieRichardson.com website, with half the proceeds going to the RNLI.

Having just come ashore after the first race, Lottie said “what a fantastic sight, seeing these gorgeous yachts racing in Falmouth Bay. We are just so lucky to have the Js here. They are majestic.”

And if you want to watch the action, they will be racing from 11am daily. Anywhere from Pendennis Head around Falmouth Bay to the Helford will provide superb viewing points, as the Js planned race course comes close to the shore. And as they are moored in Port Pendennis Marina, you can see them at rest outside the National Maritime Museum.
